And we’re off! The IDC is underway for our 10 IDC candidates and 1 IDC Staff Instructor candidate here at Coral Point. We are a diverse group comprised of candidates haling from Canada, France, Australia, Italy, Spain and Argentina.
This week our English and French speaking candidates have started the theory learning component of the course (last week our Spanish and Italian candidates completed this portion of the course). Our IDC will spend the next few days learning all about the qualities of a good instructor, PADI standards and procedures, how to conduct various PADI courses, how to teach in the classroom as well as in confined water and open water, risk management, and so on….all the knowledge and skills needed to become a top-notch PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
We also have one candidate who is already an MSDT, and who is now working to complete the IDC Staff Instructor Course. She will learn how to assist with teaching an IDC program, support IDC candidates, evaluate the skills and instruction of these candidates, as well as other information and skills needed to work as an IDC Staff Instructor.
Best wishes to all candidates as they ennbark on this learning journey which will culminate with the Instructor Exam during the first weekend in June! Good luck, bonne chance, buena suerte, in boca al lupo to all!
