Whether you are already a certified PADI Divemaster or you are aiming to take your first step into professional diving, Coral Point offers structured internship programs designed to turn passion into real experience. Our internships combine hands‑on training, daily dive center operations and professional supervision in a relaxed but demanding working environment. You will gain practical skills, confidence and a deep understanding of how a dive center operates—from assisting courses and guiding divers to customer service and marine awareness. Both programs are selective and limited in availability, ensuring quality training, personal growth and meaningful experience within an established PADI Career Development Center
If you are already a PADI Divemaster and your goal is to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, this internship program is designed for you. It is ideal if you can commit to working and training with us for at least 3 months (the 2‑week IDC itself is not included in this period).
You can complete your IDC either before or after the internship. Coming earlier allows you to practice skills, reach the required number of dives and progress naturally toward your Instructor Examination. Many candidates choose this path to gain real teaching experience while working with students during their internship.
If you are already a certified diver but not yet a Divemaster, this internship offers the opportunity to become a PADI Divemaster while working with us for approximately 3 months.
Training is provided free of charge in exchange for your participation in daily dive center operations. You will learn how the dive industry works from the inside, develop strong customer service skills and gain hands‑on experience in a professional, friendly dive shop environment.
Internship availability depends on dates, certification level and program requirements. To ensure proper organization and selection, we recommend contacting our team to check availability, receive full program details and submit your application.
Internships at Coral Point are based on real dive center life. From the early morning opening of the shop to the end of the day, interns are involved in daily operations alongside instructors, divemasters and staff. Every day is different, but always hands‑on, practical and immersive.
The day usually starts around 7:30 am, when the shop opens and preparation begins: setting up dive boats, loading tanks and preparing guest equipment. Before the morning boats depart, interns assist guests with weights, gear adjustments and dive site information.
Between 9:30 am and midday, interns are actively involved in the core of the dive operation—guiding certified divers or assisting instructors during training courses. When boats return, equipment is rinsed, organized and prepared for the next activities.
Afternoons typically include time in the shop, helping with tank fills, rental equipment, basic maintenance, logistics or customer support. The shop closes around 5:00 pm, marking the end of a full working day.
And when the work is done, it’s time to relax: a cold drink on the beach, Caribbean sunsets and time shared with the team are all part of the experience. Interns enjoy one full day off per week to rest and explore the area.
You don’t just study theory — you work inside an active dive center. From assisting courses to guiding certified divers, you learn real‑world skills required for professional diving.
Boat preparation, tank logistics, guest assistance, rentals, fills and shop life: you learn the daily operations that employers worldwide expect from professionals.
You develop confidence, control and leadership by assisting instructors, guiding certified divers and improving demonstration‑quality skills in real training scenarios.
The Dominican Republic is one of the easiest countries to find work as a dive professional. Being trained locally increases job opportunities in Bayahibe and throughout the Caribbean.
You work daily with international guests, improving communication, customer care and cultural awareness — essential skills for a global diving career.
Many interns find work during or shortly after the program. Training at a PADI Career Development Center prepares you for long‑term professional growth, not just certification.
